A man turns his back on Eight Cups, following a new path over rough terrain in the night. He seems sad and alone, but apparently he felt that he needed to make this decision. Something deeply meaningful compels him to follow. As the Eights are all connected to Strength, it must have taken a taming of his emotions. He's not rejecting or struggling against his attachment to comfortable familiarities or hithero freely indulged addictions, his insecurities at leaving them behind. He accepts having these feelings but gently controls them as he walks away into the unknown.

 

This card may make you wonder if you're still truly happy with your emotional investments, or if the contentment is superficial (and already making way for disappointment and disillusionment?) Is it better to stop clinging to the familiar and transcend this attachment in search for a more meaningful satisfaction?
