Six Swords, a woman and a young child are being ferried across a body of water towards land on the horizon.

This card is about finding clarity - rational solutions - by allowing a free flowing of ideas. We get to the other side of dilemmas and mental blocks by creating space for different perspectives. In our own minds, when we question ourselves and try to think out of the box, but also by communicating our thoughts with others. We need to have discussions where it's the interplay between argument and counter-argument that informs us and allows us to make progress.

For it to be fruitful, it is vital not to be in the discussion to 'win'. We need to understand that our viewpoint is not necessarily The Truth (certainly not for the other party). Instead, it's subjective and probably more resistant to other ideas than we'd think. Conversely, our discussion partner has an equally biased viewpoint. We can only truly exchange ideas if we communicate in a balanced and non-threatening way. We can only expect the other party to consider our ideas and gain understanding of our perspective if we are able to do the same for them.
