Five of Coins shows two people walking in the snow outside a church. The woman is barefoot and wears ragged clothes. The man is on crutches, crippled. Coins are about worldly matters - work, health, prosperity - and the people in this card are not doing too well in regards to that aspect of their lives. They've lost resources, possessions, security. How can they deal with these losses?

 

Well, they could ask the church community for help. In line with the message of the Hierophant, recognize how accepting help can be a very tough thing to do because it means admitting you do not have complete control over your life. Because we are too proud, or too humble. The thing is, nobody has complete control, and there's no shame in that. And here too, giving up the illusion of control is paradoxically the first step to getting back in the driver's seat of your life.

 

Notice, also, that he who loses all their worldy possessions has not truly lost everything. He has not lost his memories and experience, or his true friends. And he has not lost the capacity for passion, love, and reasoning, even though it may seem like that at first. Finding these aspects in himself will allow him to build up his life again.
